New "ALL-IN" POLICY FOR THE 2013 RESIDENCY MATCH
At its May 2011 meeting, the NRMP Board of Directors voted unanimously to require programs participating in theMain Residency Match to place all positions in The Match. The "All-In" Policy becomes effective for the 2013 Match that opens for registration on September 1, 2012 and applies to all PGY-1 and PGY-2 positions for which the NRMP provides Matching services.
New MATCH FEE
During its October 29th meeting, the NRMP Board of Directors approved new fees for all Matches opening after June 30, 2013. The institution registration fee will increase from $175 to $200 for each Match in which the institution's programs participate, and the per program and per matched applicant fees will increase from $30 to $35. The applicant registration fee will rise from $50 to $60 for the first 20 programs on the rank order list.
ROTH AND SHAPLEY WIN NOBEL PRIZE
NRMP congratulates Lloyd Shapley and Alvin Roth, who have been awarded the Nobel Prize in economics for their theoretical and practical work in matching theory. The Gale-Shapley algorithm is the basis of the matching algorithm used by the NRMP, and Roth worked with NRMP to adapt it so that it proposes matches on the basis of the applicant rather than the program rank order lists.
